Android will take over the consumer electronics market. Period. Why? Because of Google TV which will roll out this autumn.

Google TV will be a new experience for television that combines the TV that you already know with the freedom and power of the Internet. With Google Chrome and Android operating system built in, you can access all of your favorite websites and easily move between television and the web. This opens up your TV from a few hundred channels to millions of channels of entertainment across TV and the web.

And why will it take over? Because Google TV is built on open platforms and is therefore open for developers. And because Google teamed up with Sony, Logitech and Intel. Intel provides the necessary computing power in order to run Android and Chrome browser, while Sony puts Google TV inside TV sets and Blueray player. Logitech has already announced a set-top box.
